As Associate Director, Karen L. Allanach helps direct CRLE's international and 
higher education programs on humane sustainable food, as well as assists in developing 
and promoting the Food, Farming and Faith and Animals and Society programs.
Karen 
received her Master's degree in journalism from the University of Maryland at 
College Park and B.A. from Salisbury State University where she studied communications 
and philosophy. In her career as a communications professional, Karen has worked 
as a reporter and editor, covering a wide range of issues including education, 
crime, religion, business and technology. Prior to joining CRLE, Karen worked 
in media relations at George Mason University in Virginia and most recently as 
deputy director for public relations at The Humane Society of the United States.
